[14:32]<@jacky> Craig: Hello
[14:32]<@jacky> Craig: Are you around?
[14:41]<Craig> I am now, :p
[14:41]<Craig> Sorry was having lunch with my wife.
[14:43]<@jacky> didn't see you come back
[14:43]<@jacky> sorry
[14:43]<@jacky> got a minute?
[14:43]<Craig> No worries,
[14:43]<@jacky> if nto... not big deal
[14:43]<Craig> Yes, and no, :p
[14:43]<@jacky> ?
[14:43]<Craig> I have 17/16 minutes,
[14:43]<Craig> but then i have to call a customer to help with a computer
[14:44]<@jacky> I'll try to be brief then
[14:44]<@jacky> :)
[14:44]<@jacky> added a script to jupiter
[14:44]<@jacky> I have discovered on some othe rbots
[14:44]<@jacky> that there is a combination of events, where bot can lose its id with ns
[14:44]<@jacky> netsplits, ro something
[14:44]<@jacky> not really usre
[14:44]<@jacky> not often
[14:44]<@jacky> just enough to irritate
[14:45]<@jacky> so.. I came up with a script to ... about 3 or 4 times daily... check, and if not id'd, then do it
[14:45]<@jacky> ok?
[14:45]<@jacky> :)
[14:45]<Craig> Sounds good
[14:45]<@jacky> other thing
[14:45]<Craig> So it brings the bot back after a netsplit?
[14:45]<@jacky> no
[14:45]<@jacky> bot should do that itself
[14:45]<Craig> Ahh,
[14:46]<@jacky> it will check daily.. a few times.. to be SURE bot is id'd with nickserv. if not, then id with ns
[14:46]<Craig> Oh the name, so it would be Jupiterstation2 or something
[14:46]<Craig> yeah
[14:46]<Craig> ok I get that now.
[14:46]<@jacky> other thing
[14:46]<Craig> yu[p
[14:46]<@jacky> I've been playing with a bash script, to do "delete old files, older than xx, based on file .ext "
[14:46]<Craig> Interesting
[14:46]<@jacky> and I think we can do it with a variety of dates... you had mentioned 1 year
[14:47]<@jacky> hadn't you?
[14:47]<Craig> Yes
[14:47]<@jacky> :)
[14:47]<@jacky> we can play with this sometime when it suits you
[14:47]<Craig> Sounds like a plan,
[14:47]<@jacky> but... with the filenaming as it is right now... I think I got it
[14:47]<@jacky> this thing would run once daily, via crontab
[14:47]<@jacky> and theoretically just delete one file
[14:47]<Craig> I have a cache of the old chat files, so we can delete the logs after a couple months too, the cache files are much smaller.
[14:47]<@jacky> the one that was not a year old, yesterday, but is today.
[14:48]<Craig> Interesting
[14:48]<Craig> that sounds perfect.
[14:48]<@jacky> <Craig> I have a cache of the old chat files, << maybe
[14:48]<@jacky> I built it based on the way you have the eggdrop logs named
[14:48]<Craig> Yeah PISG makes a smaller version of the file with its own information cached, so its less than a full log, but informational.
[14:48]<@jacky> jupiterbroadcasting.log.20140420 <<< like that
[14:48]<Craig> Ahhh right
[14:49]<@jacky> so.. If I managed it this time, I can manage it again... I suppose... heheeh if we MUST change the filenaming
[14:49]<@jacky> eventually, we will get it all settled.
[14:49]<@jacky> :)
[14:49]<@jacky> wanted to fill you in
[14:49]<@jacky> that's all
[14:49]<Craig> Sounds good.
[14:49]<@jacky> :)
[14:49]<@jacky> catch you later
[14:49]<@jacky> don't work too hard
[14:49]<@jacky> heh
[14:49]<@jacky>
[14:49]<@jacky>
[14:49]<Craig> Thanks, later

[20:12]<Craig> Hey BC_Programming, you around?
[20:12]<@BC_Programming> maybe
[20:12]<Craig> HAhahahaa
[20:13]<Craig> How goes it?
[20:13]<@BC_Programming> Can't complain :D
[20:13]<Craig> :)
[20:13]<Craig> Cool,
[20:13]<Craig> guess what I am doing;
[20:13]<@BC_Programming> using semicolons liberally?
[20:13]<Craig> Oops :p
[20:13]<@BC_Programming> heh
[20:13]<Craig> Yeah apparently.
[20:13]<Craig> More importantly what I am doing is,
[20:14]<Craig> Migrating that server that you helped me with to a VM properly from their actual server, so I am hoping to be able to boot it without having to reinstall windows.
[20:14]<Craig> Since it has the crystal reports crap that I can't fix. :P
[20:15]<Craig> All the HDD's in the computers asside from the server are older than SATA 3Gbps
[20:15]<Craig> :P
[20:15]<@BC_Programming> Oh, that server has it working? It was just when you tried to slap it on another machine that it didn't work?
[20:15]<Craig> Yeah
[20:15]<@BC_Programming> We only just recently upgraded our Office server
[20:15]<Craig> But this one is a working server, rather than a dead server like the other one we werre trying to salvage.
[20:16]<Craig> Once we found the MSSql we were golden to move it around. :P
[20:16]<Craig> What is your Office server?
[20:17]<@BC_Programming> Just brought it up with RDP just to check the specs since I never actually looked lol
[20:17]<Craig> Hahahah
[20:17] * Nat (nathan@D9AC838:459C3455:3CFA527B:IP) has joined #glitchpc
[20:17]<Craig> I am migrating the software to a 4core E3 server with 8GB ram, should be a fairly nice system when I move it to linux, unless what I am wanting to do, doesnt work. :p
[20:17]<@BC_Programming> Intel Xeon E5-2609, 32GB RAM, 8TB HDD
[20:17]<Craig> Nice
[20:17]<Craig> thats a nice server.
[20:20]<@BC_Programming> heh my desktop has the same amount of RAM
[20:20]<@BC_Programming> But I guess in the server it would be ecc
[20:20]<Craig> Mine has the Exact same amount, but I think that server is ECC, not standard.
[20:20]<@BC_Programming> it's running Windows Server 2012
[20:20]<Craig> So more like 64GB non ECC.
[20:34]<Craig> Computers are so amazing.
[20:34]<@BC_Programming> Computer Chronicles really puts it in perspective sometimes for me
[20:34]<Craig> I am cloning one HDD, scanning a HDD, Watching Youtube, Browsing 13 pages, hosting a VM, and a bunch of other things, and its not even slowing down.
[20:35]<@BC_Programming> like the other day I watched one about "sleeper" software, and it talked about downloading from BBSs. "How long will it take to get these files?" "Well, this game is around 780K, so on your typical modem you might be able to download it in an hour"
[20:35]<Craig> HAHAA Right!?
[20:35]<Craig> Thats awesome
[20:36]<Craig> Have you watched Scorpion?
[20:36]<@BC_Programming> Or the ones covering MP3 Players, "This is amazing, because it can store an ENTIRE ALBUM!"
[20:36]<Craig> HAHAHAHAHA
[20:36]<@BC_Programming> Scorpion? No
[20:36]<Craig> On one harddrive too! :P
[20:36]<Craig> Yeah its a pretty cool tv show
[20:37]<+camerongray> Today was fun! http://s1146.photobucket.com/user/camerongray1515/library/Moving%20Tardis%20from%20AT%20to%20the%20Informatics%20Forum?sort=3&page=1
[20:37]<@BC_Programming> I have the same screwdriver
[20:38]<@BC_Programming> we're like, screwdriver brothers
[20:38]<+camerongray> haha!
[20:38]<+camerongray> It is a very good screwdriver, you have excelent taste!
[20:52]<@BC_Programming> heh I bought two broken gamecubes
[20:53]<@BC_Programming> 5 bucks can't pass on that
[20:54]<@BC_Programming> Broken meaning that it doesn't work. Probably just needs the potentiometer on the disc laser adjusted
[20:54]<Craig> Nice, but you need a haircut camerongray
[20:54]<Craig> :P
[20:55]<+camerongray> I'm not in any of those photos :P
[20:55]<Craig> https://owncloud.brokedcomputer.com/index.php/s/zcLSWcobZgkZ0rY
[20:55]<Craig> :P I didn't look close, :p
[20:55]<Craig> Wow, my office looks a LOT bigger in that picture, :p
[20:56]<Craig> My office right now has 12 comptuers in it, Three of which are REAL servers, :P
[20:56]<Craig> (Most of my servers at home were desktops)
[20:56]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[20:56]<+camerongray> These are all real servers :P
[20:56]<Craig> Nice
[20:56]<+camerongray> We need them for the rack mounting and remote manageability
[20:57]<Craig> My workstation board was totally worth it though. :0
[20:57]<+camerongray> All donated equipment too
[20:57]<Craig> nice
[20:57]<@BC_Programming> I like being in control of the updater... It's neat knowing you have the power to force everybody to upgrade Java
[20:57]<@BC_Programming> but I'm not evil, I don't wish such things on my enemies
[20:57]<Craig> BAHAHAHA, but then its stuck in an uninstall loop. :p
[20:58]<@BC_Programming> Yeah we're trying to figure out whether to educate customers to not click through that dialog or just have then deal with Java on their end
[20:58]<Craig> Hahahahahahaha
[20:58]<Craig> Good luck with getting your customers to do anything.
[20:58]<Craig> :p
[20:59]<Craig> Hey BC, how hard would it be to get Tycon software to compile properly, and use the different report software? (General quote to see if its worth asking your company to do it)
[21:00]<@BC_Programming> My company would be like "What are you talking about" as they know nothing of what I've done with that... I'd have to take that on myself
[21:00]<@BC_Programming> using different report software would mean re-creating all the reports
[21:00]<Craig> Yeah, not having any clue, how hard would that be?
[21:00]<Craig> (And would it be worth it to bring in your company?)
[21:03]<@BC_Programming> for context, we had to recreate reports from our old system to a Windows Report. we have around 50 reports in the new system, and it's taken around 2 years to re-create them. I imagine a lot of them are similar to the reports in that program, as they are similar but deal with different industries
[21:03]<Craig> Interesting
[21:03]<Craig> thats a LOT of work, :p
[21:03]<@BC_Programming> and I'm not saying we can take those reports or adapt them- rather that it takes a long time to create them
[21:03]<Craig> So what would that cost to the best of your understanding?
[21:12]<@BC_Programming> If it can be made to compile I wouldn't expect it to be necessary to use different report software
[21:13]<@BC_Programming> There really isn't anything better to use for a program like that than Crystal. Jasper Reports is free and it is what we use but it requires Java and is a pain in the butt to deal with
[21:14]<Craig> Well the Tycon server started, now to get it to login and possibly clean it up a bit more.
[21:15]<Craig> I see,
[21:15]<Craig> Well I can lock this system down, so I am not too worried.
[21:15]<Craig> Its just annoying to have to run it on a Windows XP system :P
[21:16]<Craig> These two VM's are slowing down my computer. :p
